Savanna Monitor relocated to Galana River

Monitor Lizard Catch and Release

Bio-Ken offer a free 'remove-a-snake' service for people in Watamu and the surrounding area, which of course does extend to all manner of reptiles (including crocodiles!).

We recently received a call from Ute Goodwin, a Malindi resident, informing us that she had a Monitor Lizard in her house, and asking if we were able to remove it.

We headed up to Malindi and sure enough, a White-throated Savanna Monitor had managed to hide itself in the top drawer of a desk.

We caught the monitor and took it back to the farm where it stayed until our next trip to the bush. A few weeks later we released the monitor lizard on the banks of the Galana River, where it scampered off at full speed, unlikely to ever find itself in a desk drawer again.
